Jean-Anthelme Brillat Savarin
Bugey is indubitably, incorrigibly, gourmand. It is not by chance that it produced the first theoretician, and ardent practitioner, of gastronomy…. Brillat-Savarin.
So, yes, we happily raise our glasses to offer a toast to conviviality… Bon Appetit! And it is all of Ain that joins us in celebrating their fine local produce: poultry, fish, frogs, dumplings, cheeses, butter and cream, cakes….
Our wines can count on the unconditional support of our most devoted ambassadors, the Commandeurs du Bugey, who are unerringly at the sides of the region’s winemakers at all the greatest gastronomic occasions.
Gourmet Guilds (or Confreries) are a particularly thriving tradition in our region, there’s the Guild of Dumplings in Nantua Sauce, of Gex Blue cheese, of Poultry producers and makers of Saint-Genix cakes……..to name but a few.
Since 2018 AOC Vins du Bugey has been part of the newly created umbrella brand “Saveurs de l’Ain” (Flavours of Ain), that brings together all the artisans and gastronomic actors of Ain.
